Beetroots, commonly known as beets, belong to Chenopodiaceous family. These roots are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds, which give them their medicinal properties. Since the vegetable possesses beautiful color, it is also utilized as a food colorant. It was first found in the Mediterranean region about 4,000 years ago and made its way to Chinese cuisine soon after. Beets are not only used as food, but they have served as a medicine since ancient times. They have gained popularity since then and is now considered a key ingredient to be added in salads, soups and even in our Organic Superfood Reds!
