Food Is Fuel: What Mike Eats - Protein Shakes #2

Sep 12, 2018

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”― Hippocrates. This is something that many of us have steered away from because of the busy, stressful and sometimes overwhelming lifestyles that we live in modern times. Yes, we do have it better than ever as far as medical science and standards of living is concerned, but life used to be a lot simpler and less stressful in many other aspects.

Many people say they are too busy to keep track of what they eat and put into their bodies. This is why I am back at it with some awesome, quick and simple meal replacement recipes from our friend and Organic Muscle AthleteMike Kneuer! With his many health and fitness certifications, Mike knows all too well about being busy! He also knows that nutrition is key to a healthy lifestyle and being the best version of yourself that you can be!

We all know about the Girl Scouts and more importantly, there cookies! I don't know about any of you, but my favorite cookie from the Girl Scouts was always the Samoa Cookie! I mean whats not to love about these caramel and toasted coconut-covered cookies? Thats why I was very excited about this recipe from "What Mike Eats" called the "Samoa Cookie, Dairy-Free Protein Shake"! Just because you eat healthy doesn't mean you have to give up that sweet tooth!

To start this one out you will need a quarter cup of "Full-Fat" coconut milk, and a half a cup of unsweetened cashew milk (great recipe here), in a Nutribullet cup. Next you will add two scoops of Organic Muscle "Chocolate Vegan Protein" to the mix, which helps give us that chocolate flavor of the Samoa Cookie! But, it would not be complete without the caramel and coconut! For this, Mike adds one tablespoon of unsweetened coconut flakes, one tablespoon of paleo caramel sauce and one teaspoon of toasted coconut flakes. To kick this up a bit more, Mike adds in one tablespoon of dairy-free chocolate chips and to his own personal preference, one cup of ice. Once you have all these ingredients in your Nutribullet cup, you simply and quickly, blend it to perfection!

We're not done there! For those who have a sweet tooth that isn't so fond of chocolate, we have you covered too! Mike has come up with this amazing "Decedent Vanilla Almond Protein Shake" for those vanilla lovers out there!

Just like the last recipe we start things out by adding the liquid ingredients into our Nutribullet cup. This includes one cup of cashew or almond milk, along with a quarter cup of vanilla yogurt, which you can use a vegan yogurt substitute to remain dairy-free. Now we add two scoops of Organic Muscle "Vanilla Vegan Protein", one frozen banana, and you guessed it, some almond butter! Mike once again adds one cup of ice based on his own personal preference and blends the shake until it's smooth with the Nutribullet!

So, if a busy guy like Mike. Who is a certified personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, fitness nutrition specialist, golf fitness specialist, specialist in fitness nutrition, functional aging specialist, and a nationally certified fitness in recovery addiction coach, can find time to do all these things and eat healthy, you can too!
